Getting Around Without A Car
There are many options for ground transportation, but some are seasonal. Please check ahead or ask about available services when booking. Here are our most commonly asked Ground Transportation Questions:
Where do I meet my ride when I arrive at the terminal?
Each terminal provides free parking and your party can easily meet you in the terminal, or outside in the parking lot.
How can I get to a local festival?
Check with the festival operators directly to see if there is transportation provided. The Ferry provides no regular service to various festivals run by local towns and event planners.
How do I get a taxi?
Local taxi services are available in both Lewes and Cape May. We cannot call a taxi for you, but we can give you the numbers of several local taxi services. Some passengers call ahead so taxis are waiting for them upon their arrival. Others call taxis once they have arrived at the terminal. See our customer service advisors at either terminal for a list of local taxis.
Is there a Tanger Outlet shuttle?
There are two types of Outlet shuttles. Both only operate in the warm weather months. The Ferry Shuttle (see below) has three Outlet stops during the summer. From any Outlet center, you can also jump on the official Tanger Outlet Shuttle, run directly by Tanger in Delaware, to take shoppers from one outlet center to another. Tanger-run Shuttles have no schedule and run continuously between Tanger properties. Please contact Tanger Outlets directly for their shuttle info. During the winter, when neither Outlet Shuttle is running, shoppers can take a Taxi to get to any of the Outlets .
When do the Ferry Shuttles run?
Ferry Shuttles operate on seasonal schedules. There will be shuttles running weekends only from May 28th, 2016 through June 12, 2016 and then daily until October 2, 2016.
From November 3, 2016 to May 3, 2017, shuttles will run from from the Lewes Terminal on Thursday - Monday, excluding Holidays. The route is consistent with the summer shuttle route, but without a stop at Rehoboth Park N Ride and the town of Rehoboth.
There is no Ferry Shuttle service in Cape May during the winter.
Do I need a Reservation for the Ferry Shuttles?
No. Reservations are not needed, but you should book your shuttle before boarding the Ferry for the crossing as shuttle seating space is limited. ALL Ferry Shuttles should be booked before you board.
What's the Fare for the Ferry Shuttles?
- $4 for ages 6 and above
- Free for under 6 years old
- Travel package to the zoo and Atlantic City are included in fare packages.
Where do the Ferry Shuttles go?
In Lewes: Shuttles loop from the Lewes Terminal as follows (summer)--
- Stop 1: Downtown Lewes on the corner of 2nd and Market Street
- Stop 2: Tanger Outlet Midway
- Stop 3: Tanger Outlet Bayside
- Stop 4: Park & Ride (where passengers can transfer to the DART system for Rehoboth or Ocean City, MD)**
- Stop 5: Tanger Outlet Seaside
- Stop 6: Downtown Lewes again at 2nd and Market en route back to the FerryTerminal
- Stop 7: Lewes Ferry Terminal
**During the winter, the Lewes Shuttle with not stop at the Rehoboth Park N Ride or enter the town of Rehoboth.
In Cape May: The Cape May Shuttle continuously loops non-stop from the Cape May Terminal to the downtown Cape May Transportation Center, which is a short walk from most Cape May attractions.
Is there a Shuttle to the Cape May Zoo?
Yes. The Zoo Shuttle, run by the Ferry, meets specific boats scheduled to allow a full day at the zoo in July and August. The shuttle is booked as a travel package through Guest Services. The shuttle fee is built into the package price.
Is there a Shuttle to Atlantic City?
Lucky Sevens Tours run on Wednesdays from late June through the end of September. All packages start with Ferry travel from Lewes, include a coach bus from Cape May and return coach bus from Atlantic City to meet a 6PM boat departing NJ back to Delaware.
In 2016, the AC Shuttle goes to Resorts Casino and includes $25 of free slot play. The cost of the entire package $35 including Ferry travel.
